Most people think that in order to get that V shaped upper body like comic book super heroes, they only have to develop big broad back muscles and lats. Well, by having broad back muscles and well developed lats is only part of the equation to get a V shape upper body. For complete V shape upper body development, you will also need to build a powerful chest, big strong shoulder muscles or commonly called deltoids or delts for short and a slim waist.

We shall discuss how to build big shoulder muscles in this article. You see, you may have a wonderful six pack abs or well defined chest muscles, but when you are in your street clothes, no one can see them. But if you have that massive V shape with bulging shoulder muscles, your body frame will tell the world that under those clothes is a well defined body of a gym warrior.

As with building any muscles in your body, intensity is the key to building big deltoids. Your shoulder muscles are made up primarily of the anterior deltoid (front delt), medial deltoid (middle delt) and posterior deltoid (back delt). All 3 parts of your shoulder muscles must be targeted to build well defined and big strong deltoids that threaten to burst through your shirt. The problem here is that most people do not know that they must work on all 3 shoulder muscles and do most shoulder workouts by just concentrating on the anterior delts with exercises such as military press. Furthermore, working only on anterior delts could lead to over training your shoulder muscles because many other exercises like the bench press, dips and push ups also recruit shoulder muscles for its movements.

Your should be careful when working on your shoulder muscle exercises as your shoulders joints are very susceptible to injuries and therefore proper form in executing the exercises is crucial. Don’t let bad exercise form cause you injuries that may be permanent and put you out of the gym forever. One common injury prone exercise is the narrow grip upright row. Although this is a great trapezius and shoulder muscle exercise, it should be avoided because this exercise invokes unnatural and awkward shoulder joint movement.

So what exercises are good for building big strong deltoids? Well, besides the military presses, try Arnold Press, Lateral Raise, Bent Over Lateral Raises, Shoulder Width Upright Row and Shoulder Cable exercises. Ask your personal trainer or read up on how to perform these exercises in excellent form for great shoulder muscle development.

Remember that you must also develop other aspects such as a big broad chest, wide back muscles and flared lats as well as a slim waistline to get that much coveted V shaped upper body.

The program throws potential light on the most acclaimed success story of Peter Carvell. Carvell was a student of the previous program of Vince. Peter managed to lose about a hundred pounds within a short period of six months. He went from 276 pounds to a super slim and muscular 176 pounds.
What I liked about this program is that it comes with a superb visual option to learn doing the exercises. There is a DVD series of that will help you to learn about certain exercises and workouts right from the beginning till the end.

Many people want to get rid of their fat belly and to get flat and hard abs. Is it possible? In fact, everything is possible today; the main thing is to find the right methods. Nowadays we can find plenty of ads, which offer you immediate result if you buy this, or that weight loss product. The content of such ads is usually the same: some attractive person, man or woman, with excellent figure is shown. This person says that he/she takes certain diet pills or uses other weight loss product and gets such perfect figure. It is not strange that people begin to believe. In fact, it is just an ad, because in reality, it is simply impossible to get flat abs immediately and characters from the ads donâ??t take any weight loss products.
So, what are right methods that can help to get ideal and visible abs. It is wring opinion that sit-ups and crunches can help to achieve this goal. In general, it is wrong concept of training one group of muscles. People think that if they begin to train abdominal muscles, the fat will disappear from an abdominal area. When people make certain physical exercises, the fat disappears from whole body, not from definite area.
So, in order to get ideal abs it is necessary to make different cardiovascular exercises like running, bike riding, and swimming in order to speed up your pulse rate.
Other important aspect, which leads to ideal abs, is regulation of your eating habits. In order to burn more calories, you have to speed up your metabolism. One variant: you may have more meals, but you have to eat small portions. In such a way, you wonâ??t feel hunger and you digestive system will be active all the time. Another variant is eating low GI (glycemic index) food. It is harder to digest such food. In this case, the organism uses more energy to digest this food.
Also, it is recommended to make resistance exercises, to be more exact â?? to list weights. This activity stimulates the process of building muscles and it activates the burn of energy.

If you want to build muscles, particularly abdominal muscles or what we commonly refer to as a “six pack”, your diet (which we’ll call an abs diet) needs to be rich in protein. However, you may wonder exactly how much protein should be in your food in order for you to reap the maximum benefits. You may also wonder if you should cut down on or leave out the other food groups. You also need to know that in terms of content, the abs diet for women is very much different from the abs diet for men. And depending on a woman’s body size, the quantity of food in each abs diet service can vary.

Foods that are high in protein are the main requirements in an abs diet for women. If you want to have an attractive six pack, eating high protein foods is a must. While you won’t be eating as much protein foods as men who are on an abs diet, the foods on your abs diet menu are going to be similar overall. For instance, your abs diet will consist of several lean meats like chicken and turkey. Your abs diet will also include plenty of fish, eggs, milk, and protein drinks and bars. Be careful eating the latter, though, because many protein drinks and bars have high sugar content. Make sure that you read the label first.

Aside from the protein-rich foods, your abs diet will also include fresh vegetables. And if you really want to have attractive flat abs, you will have to refrain from eating fatty foods, junk foods and high sugar foods. Needless to say, you will need to avoid eating fast foods and greasy take out foods.

Just because you are on a high protein abs diet does not mean that you have to avoid carbohydrates altogether. You also need to eat carb foods. For best results, eat foods that are high in fiber and are of the wholemeal varieties. Avoid consuming white bread and food products made from bleached flour. Your abs diet can include foods that are rich in carbohydrates such as brown rice, potatoes, oatmeal, high fiber cereals and breads.

When you are on an abs diet, eat moderately. Avoid eating large amounts of foods. Instead of eating two or three big meals a day, eat small amounts several times a day. Not only doing this will help your metabolism, it will also prevent you from having a bloated and tired feeling after every meal.

So that’s it — a basic abs diet for women that you can follow whenever you are ready to start building your abs. Incorporate this abs diet in your daily routine, exercise regularly and you are on your way to having great abs!

How To Get Six-Pack Abs – The Pinnacle Of Physical Fitness

Representing, as they seem to, the pinnacle of physical fitness and muscularity in men, there is really little wonder that most men profess to want six-pack abs. Yet, despite this widespread desire, very few men actually succeed in reaching this goal.

The main reason tends to be a focus on the wrong aspect of working out. The average guy looks at bodybuilders with their six-pack abs and figures he’s got to really work his abs out constantly, just like the bodybuilder guys probably do.

The fact that most men miss is that the first key to six-pack abs is lower overall body fat. Well, technically, it is lower tummy fat. However, fat burning doesn’t occur just in one area, so the focus needs to be on overall fat burning. Without this focus, it doesn’t matter if you do have rock solid six-pack abdomen muscles; no one will be able to see through the fat that covers them up.

Burning fat isn’t complicated, in theory. It simply requires burning more calories than you consume. If you burn more than you consume, you lose weight; if you consume more than you burn, you gain weight.

There are only two real ways to burn calories, metabolism and exercise. To reach optimal effectiveness at getting rid of the extra fat around your midsection, you should obviously work on both of these areas.

Speeding up your metabolism is definitely something you can do, even though many people seem to erroneously believe that your metabolism rate is locked in genetically. Drinking more water, building your muscles and eating nutritious foods more often are three strong steps in the direction of a faster metabolism.

The change in your eating habits is due to the fact that the three-meals-a-day plan is horrifically inefficient for the human body. Eating this way makes us take in a lot more energy per sitting than we can burn effectively. Instead, start eating five to seven smaller meals a day. Also, while we’re discussing diet, make sure those meals are nutritious and not full of empty calories from junk-fast-food.

To help keep your metabolism up, once you establish your new eating pattern, don’t skip on meals. Skipping meals seems to be a very popular way of trying to lose weight, but it’s a horrible plan. When you skip a meal, your body starts going into conservation mode, holds onto the fat in your body and slows your metabolism down.

With your nutrition coming into line and your metabolism going up, let’s cover the exercise portion of the plan. You need to do some cardiovascular exercise regularly to burn through those calories and melt the fat off of your stomach. Getting to your six-pack abs as fast as possible means you need to balance the cardio with weight training as well, to tighten up and start building your muscles.

Don’t just focus on your abdomen; work on building the muscles in your entire body. You can pay some extra attention to your abs, but be sensible about it and aim for balance.

After hearing horror stories from guys who have spent forever trying to develop their six-pack abs, you’ll be amazed how quickly you can develop your own six-pack when you focus your attention towards the right areas.

Below is the portion of an interview I did recently where we covered our best nutrition and diet strategies for losing body fat to uncover those 6 pack abs that everyone wants. Here goes…

CB: And finally Mike, a couple of your best diet strategies for etching out those 6 pack abs. Give us your best info!

MG: No problem Craig. I think you’d agree that there has never been a more confusing time regarding proper nutrition and diet for consumers. Every so called “nutrition expert” out there seems to disagree and contradict each other on what’s the best way to eat for fat loss and overall good health.

One of the most important messages I try to teach my readers in this world of heavy confusion is that your diet does not need to conform to any of the fad diets… you don’t need to go “low carb” or “low fat”, or high or low anything for that matter to be successful in losing enough body fat to get lean enough to be able to see your abs. I like to try to simplify things for my readers. I think that balance is the key to success along with eating a diet that is made up of nutrient dense foods in their natural state (as unprocessed as possible).

In general, it is the heavy processing of foods that makes it wreak havoc inside our bodies. Most foods in their natural unprocessed state are inherently good for us. Of course there are always exceptions… a salad of poison ivy leaves is “natural and unprocessed” but certainly wouldn’t be good for us!

I will summarize here with a couple of the most important aspects of nutrition that help to get you lean for life and showing off a six pack…

1. Get enough quality protein in the daily diet – not only does it have a higher thermic effect than carbs and fat (so you burn more calories digesting it), but it also creates satiety so your hunger is satisfied longer. Plus it is a building block for maintaining and building lean muscle… And remember that the amount of lean muscle you carry is one of the main factors for controlling your metabolism.

2. Think fiber! When it comes to carbs, make sure that almost all of your carbohydrate intake is from higher fiber sources like vegetables, fruits, and high fiber unrefined grains. Try to avoid refined sugars and refined grains as that is one of the main reasons so many people struggle with body fat. I personally do not eat many grains as I prefer to get most of my carbs from veggies and fruits, but I am a bit of a fan of sprouted grains. I generally recommend looking for carbohydrate sources that have at least 2-3 grams of fiber per each 10 grams of total carbs. Remember that fiber helps fill you up and also slows down the glycemic response of the foods you eat, all beneficial for losing body fat.

3. Don’t be afraid to eat dietary fat! Many people try to go way too low on their fat intake and this can negatively affect hormone levels in your body as well as causing more cravings. Try to eat enough healthy fats daily. Good sources are all nuts and seeds, nut butters, avocados, olive oil, organic meats and eggs, coconuts and virgin coconut oil. On that note, saturated fats from tropical oils are VERY misunderstood, even by many nutritionists and other health professionals. Yes they are composed highly of saturated fats, but are actually beneficial (but that’s way beyond the scope of this article).

4. Avoid the two worst things in our food supply at ALL COSTS:

*artificial trans fats from margarines, shortening, and hydrogenated oils that are in most processed foods

*high fructose corn syrup, which is in almost all sweetened products on the market

Again, if you avoid processed foods, it becomes easy to avoid these two worst offenders in our food supply.

I always contend that once you get a handle on these 4 main points of your diet detailed above, the rest starts to take care of itself as you gain control over your appetite, blood sugar levels, hormone levels, etc. It all falls into place, and you eventually gain total control over how lean you want to get.

CB: Thanks Mike!

Your abdominal muscles, otherwise known as your abs, are extremely important in your physical health. Your abdominal muscles are at the very core of your body and can help the rest of your body stay healthy. Studies have shown that those with a “spare tire” around their waist are more likely to get health related medical illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and others than those without that spare tire hanging around.

Studies have also shown that those with strong abdominal muscles are less likely to suffer from a back injury. This is because your abs are strong and by working your abs, you are usually working your back muscles at the same time and you might not even know it! You can even improve your posture with strong abs.

1) Description of the various ab muscles – You have more than one ab muscle in your torso. There are six abdominal muscles in your body. On the sides you have what are called your internal and external obliques. You also have transverses abdominis, which actually goes all around the front of your stomach to your back. There is also the rectus abdominis, which is right in the middle and lower parts of your abdominis. When you see someone with a “six pack” that is their rectus abdominis. There are muscles that actually help your spinal cord that are called spinal flexors.

2) Exercises that target each area – Crunches are the first obvious exercise to help you lose weight and gain muscle in your ads. Crunches only target your front abs and not your “spare tire” abs or obliques. To target your obliques, you can do crunches, but instead of coming up straight, move to the side with your elbow touching the opposite knee. To get that spare tire muscle, you can do what I call reverse crunches. You lay on your stomach, put your arms down at your sides and pull your head, shoulders and chest off of the floor. You will feel it working mostly in your lower back.

3) Dieting strategies – Your diet can have a direct effect on your midsection. Foods with a lot of saturated fat, carbohydrates (that you don’t use) and other things can create that spare tire look around your waist. Drinking beer can have a huge effect on your stomach. First, you should choose a good multivitamin that you can take daily. Stay away from beer, potatoes and other fattening foods. Stick with a healthy variety of foods and drink lots of water.

To get the best abs you can, you need to maintain your complete program, including your diet, resistance training, supplement, weight training and aerobics or cardio. All of these truly help you create great ab muscles and keep your core healthy and strong. If you want that great six-pack-ab look and feel, you need to maintain all of these components of your health regimen.

A newbie to body building will most probably make the mistake to concentrate too much time and attention to working out the arms often to the point of exhaustion. Remember that most other exercises which require you to hold weights with your hands will also automatically bring arm muscles into the equation so don’t overdo them!
Having said that, the arms are complex body parts in their own right and deserve a properly focused exercise program to sculpt them into the pieces of art they deserve to be. In basic terms the arm consists of three main muscle groups:
1. Biceps brachii – two muscles at the front upper arm that run from the elbow to the shoulders.
2. Triceps brachii – three muscles at the rear upper arm that run from the elbow to the shoulder.
3. Forearm – several smaller muscles that run from the elbow to the wrist.
There are seven basic exercises that will allow beginners to get off to a good muscle building start without over exhausting their bodies. For all of the exercises that follow, use a weight that is light enough to allow between 10-15 reps.
Three biceps building exercises are recommended for beginners:
1. Standing barbell curl – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
2. Alternative standing dumbbell curls – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
3. Preacher bench curls – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
Three triceps building exercises are recommended for beginners:
1. Dips – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
2. Close grip bench press – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
3. EZ bar lying extensions – 10-15 reps.
One forearm building exercise is recommended for beginners:
1. EZ bar reverse curls – 3 sets of 10-15 reps.
As with all exercises you need to take care in scheduling specific body parts. To begin with you should incorporate your arm exercises into a program similar to the one suggested below:
Day 1: Biceps, Back, Abs
Day 2: Hamstrings, Shoulders, Abs
Day 3: Quads, Forearms, Calves
Day 4: Triceps, Chest, Abs
For the first couple of weeks complete one set but then add one set each week to a maximum of three. At the end of three months you will be ready to move on to more intensive intermediate level exercises which we will discuss at a later date

Men and women are spending numerous hours in the gym, working out on various machines trying to get a washboard stomach or abs to die for. Even when you put hours into your quest there is no guarantee that you’ll get the body you desire. Looking around the workout room there will always be someone more muscular or sculptured than you. If you’re not getting the results that you think you deserve what options do you have to improve your results?

As many people have busy lives and struggle to fit workouts into their daily routine they may be tempted to consider quick fix methods of losing weight and gaining muscle. Like other body altering processes, such as losing weight, people like to see results fast. In this regard some people may consider taking body building steroids.

Everyone in the body maintenance industry will gladly inform you of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle including exercise. No-one though would encourage the use of steroids. They may assist in adding extra muscle to your body and give you the muscular definition you desire, but the price of such vanity is too high. The potential side effects of taking drugs such as these are well researched. While some of the symptoms may be visible, most will only be noticeable by the individual. Symptoms might include reduced fertility and other problems associated with sexuality, reduced liver function and possible sleep disturbance. Of greater concern though are the psychological problems such as mood swings, depression and increased aggression.

The potentially devastating effects of taking steroids is demonstrated by the story of a young man who had decided to take body building steroids with his regular weight training in order to get bigger. One morning he woke up and just felt like committing suicide. He didn’t really know why, but he didn’t question it either. Luckily after downing a bottle of pills, he had a moment of clarity and seeing the gravity of his position called for assistance. There are also countless incidents where taking steroids has not resulted in an imminent threat to life but has altered a persons character or health.

If you feel the need to take something to increase your output, there are many other items in the marketplace that can complement your workout. There are supplements, meal replacements, protein shakes and fat burners to name just a few. These have been designed especially for the body building and sculpting markets and are all completely safe to consume.

Whether you’re doing it to impress others or for your own health and satisfaction, there is no need to turn to drugs to achieve the body you desire. There is no miracle pill that can make you perfect or do all the work for you. You will still need to work out and look after yourself.
