Ab Exercise

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It is hard to tell which is the best ab exercise given the the variety of the workout suggestions, not to mention that efficiency results from complex circumstances. Besides the individual factors influence efficiency, there are also many incorrect training leads, performance mistakes and false myths that are to blame for the failure of an ab exercise. Belly fat does not burn from abdominal workout; strong abs merely support the spine and improve health.

ab exercises

A good ab exercise is the bicycle because it moves the abdominal muscles and the obliques at the waist into action. The exercise is performed lying on the back, with the hands behind the head and the knees lifted towards the chest. While moving the legs like pedaling on a bike, the shoulder blades should be kept off the ground. The pedaling motion should be carried out in 12 or 16 reps depending on the personal resistance to the effort.

Muscular toning by ab exercise routine is strenuous and it takes time, and there is no spectacular weight loss coming from it. Cardio, aerobics or some other sports practice may help you train the entire body and be more successful at burning fat. One thing is for sure, ab workout requires good routines, technique and good shape. Muscles grow best when exercises are performed the right way.

ab exercise

To be more specific, an ab exercise that is not performed correctly may be detrimental for the health condition. Neck strains, back and shoulder injuries may appear when you crunch or sit up the wrong way. If at the end of the session you experience discomfort or pain in the neck, then, you may have worked the wrong muscles. A personal trainer should be able to show you how to correct the mistakes and develop a six pack.

Besides the traditional sit ups and crunches, all the other exercises require great care. After all, this is why coaching was invented in the first place: to help people get in great shape with no risks and lots of benefits. The coaching part should actually precede and accompany the training, so that the safety level is at the highest. Fitness and health therefore go hand in hand!

A Few Tips For Your Ab Workouts

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Lots of people are looking for how to get good abs, but abdominal muscles are not that easy to shape. Besides a very tough ab workout, a full body training routine and a strict diet work hand in hand. There are several factors that influence the ab workout, of which the training level deserves most of the attention. And under-training or over-training are the main mistakes that you could make. Here are a few tips to help one develop a good ab workout routine.

Regardless of the level of training, you should organize the ab workout by abdominal circuits. The truth about six pack abs is, that the exercises have to be performed at least two or three times a week, allowing for the strengthening of the abdominal muscles while also respecting the necessary rest period. Results will show up sooner afterwards.

A correct ab workout routine aims at strengthening the lower, the upper and the oblique abdominal muscles, as all define this part of the body in a special way. Organize the ab workout according to sets of exercises with a certain number of repetitions. A harmonious muscle growth will occur if you increase the number of reps with no more than two per week. Sticking to the same number of reps would trigger the appearance of a plateau phase from which there is no more evolution.

Then, the variation of the exercises is also important in an ab workout to get muscular abs. The number of possible training routines is not at all small, and one can actually find an individual pattern to suit personal needs. Regardless of which you choose, do not believe that the belly fat can be eliminated by the ab workout alone. That is probably the biggest myth of weight loss ever. You can get hard-rock muscles under a large fat deposit. Therefore diet and cardio exercises should support any form of abdominal training.

Strength training, regular cardio exercises and low-calorie diets fully support the ab workout. Do not overlook the rest of the body muscles in favor of the abdominals. After constant monitoring and lots of efforts, many people discover that the six pack is out of reach even if they have a flat abdomen. Physiognomy and genetics have a heavy word in the matter, which is why a realistic view of the fitness goals is essential for a self-contented lifestyle.

Ab Exercise – A Simple Guide

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Although lots of studies have been conducted to determine the efficiency of different ab exercises, it is still hard to tell which is the best one of all. Besides the individual factors on which the efficiency depends, there are also many false myths, mistakes in performance and incorrect training that are responsible for the failure of an ab exercise. Belly fat does not burn from abdominal workout; strong abs are just a great way of staying healthy and supporting the spine.

A good ab exercise is the bicycle because it moves the abdominal muscles and the obliques at the waist into action. The exercise is performed lying on the back, with the hands behind the head and the knees lifted towards the chest. The shoulder blades should be off the ground while you move the legs as you would on a bycicle. The pedaling motion should be carried out in 12 or 16 reps depending on the personal resistance to the effort.

The main issue with ab exercise routines is that they are strenuous, not to mention that the muscular toning takes time to achieve while weight loss remains minimum. It is a good idea to do other full-body exercises meant to reduce weight, such as cardio or aerobics, and use any type of ab exercise as a way to complete the training and define the muscles. One thing is for sure, ab workout requires technique, good shape and great routines. The maximum effect comes out of an ab exercise when it is performed correctly.

To be more clear, an ab exercise that is not performed correctly may be detrimental for the health condition. Back and shoulder injuries as well as neck strains may appear when you crunch or sit up the wrong way. If you feel discomfort in the neck while training or at the end of the session, then, you are making a mistake that needs to be corrected as soon as possible. Talk to a personal trainer and ask him/her to show you how to work correctly for developing great abs.

The same suggestion is valid for any other ab exercise, besides the classical sit ups or crunches. After all, that’s the whole purpose of coaching: to help people get in great shape with no risks and lots of benefits. The coaching part should actually precede and accompany the training, so that no harm is done to the body. This is the best way to stay healthy and fit!

The bicycle is considered a good ab exercise to get muscular abs as it stimulates the obliques as well as the rest of the upper and lower muscles into action. The exercise is performed lying on the back, with the hands behind the head and the knees lifted towards the chest. The shoulder blades should be off the ground while you move the legs as you would on a bicycle. Carry on with the pedaling motion for 12 or 16 reps.

Building The Perfect Set Of Abs Quickly

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

There are a lot of ways to get great abs fast, and you don’t have to use special abdominal machines or other expensive equipment to reach your goal.  However, by fast we don’t mean that after one week of exercising and cutting back on calories you will suddenly have gorgeous abs.  That would be great, but it is not realistic despite what many advertisers want you to believe.

In order to get strong, defined abdominal muscles, discipline, dedication and hard work is required.  Considering that so many individuals have a sedentary lifestyle and consume food regularly with high amounts of processed foods, sweets, and fats, it’s no wonder that only a few people have an enviable midsection to show off.

The irony is that each and everyone of us have a six pack.Yes, it is perfectly true!  But for most of us it is quite well hidden under a layer of fat, and some have layers a lot thicker than others, so no one gets to see it.But even though this is the case, there are a number of things that you can do to remove the fat and develop perfectly looking abs! And if they layer of fat around your abs is not too thick, then you can have perfect looking abs within the next few months.

But in order to get your flat set of abs sooner, you should begin by increasing your aerobic workouts. If you want to lose that fat then a good goal to have is to be doing some form of cardio or aerobic exercise at least five days a week for 50 minutes to an hour.  (Of course always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.)  Running, biking, and swimming are excellent forms of aerobic exercise.A great cardio workout can also be done on treadmills, stationary bikes, and stair step machines.  Each of these types of exercise is good for your abs because each one strengthen them while helping you burn a lot of calories at the same time.

To get great abs in the shortest time possible it is very important that you also do some strength training.  This is the best way to specifically develop your abdominal muscles.  Some good exercises to specifically strengthen your abs include traditional crunches and sit ups (which may or may not be done with abdominal workout machines) as well as V-ups, the “bicycle” and several others.  You will know they are working your abs when you feel those muscles burning as you do them.

Last but not least, to get the abs you desire as quickly as possible, you need to improve your diet.If your eating habits are full of fatty foods, it will make it very hard to get rid of the fat and flab around your abs. Therefore, you should eat more fruit, vegetables and proteins in order to assist your metabolism so it can breakdown the fat.

Remember that each and everyone of us have a six pack, but you must do everything possible to tone your abs and eliminate the fat surrounding them.  An abs rocket, fancy fitness gadgets, and expensive supplements will never give you great abs if you don’t put in the hard work and make some of the changes mentioned above.  But if you do, you will have great abs faster than you thought possible.

The 5 Best Abdominal Exercises Most People Are Not Doing

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Everyone has their own opinions about the best abdominal exercises. There is, however, one principle that cannot be ignored when it comes to picking great exercises for building six pack abs.

You should have a line of distinction between abdominal exercises and full body exercises which burns fat. Doing abdominal exercises alone wont help it.

Here is a list of exercises which is left out in most of our schedule.

1. Mountain climbers.

Lay down in “push up” position. Then move your hands and legs as if you are walking over an inclined plane. But in reality you stay in the same place. First bring up one leg to your armpit, then switch to the other. This exercise is a full body exercise and an excellent fat burner which is really engaging the abdominal muscles

2. Static jumps.

Closely related to mountain climbers, with this exercise you also assume the pushup position. Instead of alternating between bringing your legs forward, here you “jump” forward with both legs at once, landing your feet beneath your chest while keeping your hands planted on the ground.Kick back to straighten your legs and repeat.Done correctly, this is once again an excellent full body exercise. It sounds easy, but after a few repetitions you’ll feel a bit differently about it! One of the best abdominal exercises you can do.

3. Hanging leg lifts.

Mostly this exercise is done on hanging from a pull up bar. Hang with your arms and legs extended. Now raise your knees, bringing them in towards your chest. Do not jerk, use a smooth, controlled motion. The tougher variation of this exercise is done by keeping the legs straight and lifting them up, till they are level with the waist.
Do some pull ups in between the above exercise.

4. Towel slide.

For this exercise you need a smooth surface that will allow a piece of cloth, like a towel or old shirt, to slide freely. In other words, a tiled floor will work, a carpet won’t.

For this explanation we’ll assume you’re using a towel. Assume the pushup position with your feet on the towel. Now, while keeping your legs and arms straight, slide your feet in towards your hands (until they’re more or less in line with your waist), then slide back into the full pushup position and repeat. Try to concentrate on your abdomen while doing this exercise.

To make this exercise doubly powerful, do pushups after every 2 or 3 slides.

5. Jack knives.

This is another great abdominal exercise.Lie flat on your back, legs straight and arms stretched out over your head. Now, lift your legs while keeping them straight, and at the same time lift your arms (also keeping them straight) to touch your legs in the air above your waist. Never ever jerk while doing this exercise. if jerking could not be avoided then you must stop doing the exercise lest the benefits of doing this exercise are lost.
These are some of the best abdominal exercises, so be sure to mix some of these into your exercise routine for great results!

The gurus hate it when their personal secrets about best ab exercises get exposed! Now they’re fuming mad about this site best ab workout and trying to shut it down.

Which is Powerful- Upper Abdomen Exercises or Lower Abdomen Exercises?

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Most people are unclear while they discuss about the upper and lower abs exercises. Here is some useful information regarding them. The muscle which is originally discussed is rectus abdominus. Rectus means straight, and abdominus refers to the abdomen. So simply put, the rectus abdominus runs straight down the abdomen. The rectus abdominus is also the muscle that gives a lean person that six pack look.

The rectus abdominus is 1 muscle, but it has tendinous intersections that separate muscle fibers forming distinct sections. Many people vehemently argue that rectus abdominus can’t be isolated and concentrated separately which is true when only one section is concentrated while others are not. But you can emphasize one section over another section.People confuse the words isolate and emphasize and come to the conclusion that rectus abdominus cant be trained in isolation.

Our nervous system is so intricate. Each nerve has thousands of nerve cells and each muscle has thousands of muscle fibers. This allows us to move with accuracy, precision, agility, and grace. The rectus abdominus has thousands of nerves ending in it which help in coordinating various movements of our body. So when such movements are made naturally the lower and upper abs(rectus abdominus) are stressed and exercised upon. The upper abs, which is the upper part of rectus abdominus is emphasized when we move the trunk forward like in a crunch or sit up. ball crunches are also a good upper abdominal exercises. The crunch machines and ab training muscles are good upper abdomen tightening exercises. The lower abs as well as the upper abs are trained when you do crunches. The entire rectus abdominus is worked out whenever you bend your trunk or flex it.

The lower abs are worked out well when you do reverse crunches. In reverse crunch the pelvis moves towards the trunk. Leg raises and flutter kicks are also among the best ways to train your lower abdomen. You should note that even in reverse crunches the upper abs are trained but more stress is given to lower abs only.

However I must warn you that these abdomen exercises are definitely not a magic cure. Doing these upper and lower abdomen exercises alone will not melt that fat deposited for ages in your rectus abdominus area…. This misconception is termed as spot reduction myth. You must adopt a comprehensive approach towards fitness. Healthy eating is a must.

You must do abdominal exercises minimum 2-3 times a week. Include both upper and lower abs exercises, do various other abs exercises and from various directions to get a more balanced body.

Finding the best information about best ab exercise can be overwhelming at times. One of the best places we found online to get the straight facts is best ab workout
