The perfectly shaped abdominals in bodybuilding magazine pictures probably reflect best the notion of ultimate abs. If flattening the abdomen is one first objective for lots of people who go to the gym, getting muscular abs is often the next goal they target. The issue is that so far, there is no clear cut path towards the ultimate abs, and even professional trainers have different opinions and various approaches to muscle training. There is a well-rounded routine of a variety of exercises which make the common grounds for most training. Thus, from the standard crunches and sit ups, fitness experts have developed such variations that allow for angle moves, versatility and efficiency of training.
Developing the ultimate abs comes naturally when following the right method. Some trainers recommend four days of weekly training while others consider that three are absolutely enough. Some coaches recommend four workouts while other go for five or six, with the mention that the resting period is also important. The program should also include a special warm-up and a cool down part so that the intense activity is started and completed harmoniously.
The truth about six pack abs: It is false to assume that the ultimate abs will grow out of a very severe training routine dedicated to the abdominal muscles. Every training program should envisage balance. You make a big mistake if you treat your abs differently from the rest of the muscle groups. Full body training is what helps to reduce the fat deposits and replace them with lean muscle mass. If aerobics, stair climbing, running or rope jumping do not sound like good solutions for you, try dancing, climbing, cycling, swimming and other sports. Even water skiing and surfing can get you in an excellent physical shape.
As long as you commit to an intense physical activity regularly, the muscles receive the necessary effort and workout training so as to be able to get stronger and firmer. Chaotic or random exercises will take you farther from the muscular abs than you’ll ever be. If you only perform these two types of exercises, chances are that you’ll tone the abdominals, but you’ll never be able to see how beautifully shaped they are because of the fat layers under the skin. Hence, the approach to fitness needs to be both smart and moderate.

Sounds a bit far-fetched and ironic but getting washboard abs is something many people seek in gym programs, machine training, bodybuilding, supplements administration and more. There is something funny in this way of referring to the six pack, because it only points out to how eager people are to imitate the nice look of celebrities or the perfect bodies of professional athletes without even thinking what it takes to shape the body in such a way. Normally there are two paths to getting washboard abs by combining nutrition with a training program, plenty of rest and a balanced lifestyle, or by administrating steroids in combination with physical effort.
A complex healthy program is a lot more difficult to follow and its final results are not that easy to predict. Maybe you will achieve a great abdomen toning, but you can still be away from getting ripped abs. The problem for such an issue is that training takes time and the genetic factors do not allow for very peculiar ab shaping sometimes. The administration of steroids for developing washboard abs often becomes the short-cut. Nevertheless, such artificial or pseudo-fitness does not improve resistance or strength levels. Plus, there are numerous health hazards that accompany the use of anabolic substances.
It is interesting to study and understand the factors that motivate the training for washboard abs. The six pack is often associated with manhood, but toning abs as such is common to both men and women alike. Well, people strive for washboard abs for different reasons, most often they try to cope with emotional or social failure, or they aim at regaining a lost self-esteem. In some people’s opinion, muscles bring respect, consideration and even recognition. But the flaws of such reasoning cannot pass undetected.
A positive motivation increases the chances of really developing washboard abs. A good but realistic self-perception makes wonders in terms of success rate for any activity that you commit to, including physical training. When you feel optimistic and you train with a good heart and in a great mood, the body will better respond to the messages of the brain and will be stimulated into rewarding progress. Do not take such suggestions for psychological crap, because these ideas sum up a whole range of studies dedicated to training both mind and body to work together harmoniously. Abs exercises and which ones are the best ones are probably the most talked about and controversial topic in the fitness and exercise industry today. Not convinced that it is one of the hottest topics in the fitness industry? Just check out how many abs gadgets and gimmicks are on the market promising that their way is the best way to get abs. And we all know that not all of them can fulfill their promises of how to get flat abs.
It may come to a surprise that most of these abdominal solutions are not really solutions at all to getting sick pack abs. Before even getting started with any abdominal exercises, you have to be sure that you have lost any extra belly fat you may be holding on to. To be honest, most people already have decent abdominals underneath, yet the six-pack abs are simply covered up by all of that extra flabby stomach fat. All you really have to do is learn how to lose love handles.
Instead of focusing so much on abdominal exercises to make your stomach flatter and more like a six-pack, you will lose much more body fat by focusing the majority of your training time with special combinations of high intensity full-body, multi-joint exercises. The most efficient way to lose belly fat is to do the most intense full body workout that trains the largest portions of your body at once.
Target exercising muscle groups such as your legs, upper and lower back, and chest in order to get the most out of a workout when trying to lose belly fat. Do these exercises in high intensity super-set, tri-sets, or circuit fashion and you have the formula for the best fat-burning and metabolism boosting workouts.
Adjusting our attention to abs specific exercises, it is still valuable to do abs exercises. Remember however, to make the most of it. If you are performing an abs exercise that you can do more than 20-25 reps with ease then don’t waste your time doing that exercise! You are not getting enough resistance to be productive in getting six pack abs if you can easily do more than 20-25 reps. Abs exercises that get you to do around 6-15 reps are the kinds of exercises you need to continue to keep doing to get six pack abs.
Some great examples of these higher resistance abdominal exercises are hanging leg raises or knee raises using a “pelvic curl up”, or an exercise like lying hip thrusts. Many times, the same people that can do 50 or 100 crunches, can’t even complete more than 2 or 3 properly executed hanging leg raises.

Instead of the typical ab exercise routines that we see so often with crunches, situps, leg lifts, etc… This article is intended to help you find out how to get flat abs through using a workout that provides high intensity stabilization techniques. Changing up an abs exercise routine can help you produce a higher intensity work out which is going to speed up your results.
I am going to present a great high intensity workout you can do to get ripped abs that don’t even directly point to straight up abs exercise at all. This high intensity consists of three exercises and is set up in a tri-set format which is similar to like a super-set.
The workout:
1a. Renegade Dumbbell Rows
1b. Front Squats with Barbell
1c. Mountain Climbers on Floor
A good rep scheme to use with this could be 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or more sets for less reps, such as 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise. Mountain climbers can be done for a time interval (such as 30 seconds) instead of “reps”.
Starting position for the renegade dumbbell is just like a pushup position. With only difference being is that you have your hands on two dumbbells. Then, row one dumbbell up while keeping your body stabilized with the other arm. Then bring the dumbbell back to the ground and do the other arm. Be sure the whole time that you keep your body in a controlled manner and you are keeping form. It is when you are stabilizing your abdominals are being worked. Even though you aren’t targeting your abs directly, you’ll feel it in the morning on your midsection core area.
Front squats are done similar to back squats, however with the barbell in front of your body on the front of your shoulders instead of resting on the upper back as in back squats. Get the barbell on your shoulders while crossing your arms to stabilize, and push your firsts into the bar against your shoulders being sure to keep your elbows out in front of your body. This takes a little practice at first, so you will want to seek a professional trainer at your gym to help you with the form. Your abs are working through the extreme stabilization your body is going through as the weight shifts to the front of your body creating this strenuous stabilization strength effort. This is another exercise that you’ll be feeling in your abdominals area!
Just like the renegade dumbbells, mountain climbers have a starting position of a pushup. You then shuffle the your feet in and out so that your knees come up to your chest and back out to the starting position. It gets its workout name due to the fact that it simulates climbing a mountain but you are flat on the floor. Mountain climbers is a great workout to loose stomach fat as it burns off body fat.
After doing each exercise, rest for 30 seconds then start the next one. Take a small 1-2 minute break in between tri-sets, then repeat it.
In spite of the fact that there are no direct abs exercises involved, this is one of the best abs exercises you can do. You’ll see what I mean after you try it!

Granted, ab workouts might not be what most people choose to do with their precious free time, but they are one of the best ways of getting fit and staying healthy. And whether or not exercise is your thing, there’s no shortage of ab exercise machines in the sport shops so you can still get your ab workouts that way.
Whichever ab workout you decide on, it’s still going to be one of the best ways of getting well defined abs just ike you see on the cover of fitness magazines. But before you go ahead a word of warning is necessary. If you’re not used to ab workouts you might want to do a few things before you start, such as getting a medical exam.
Don’t miss out this bit because you need to know if your body can cope with an ab workout, which do tend to be strenuous. And even if you are healthy individual that can cope with hard exercise, you might want to consider starting easy and working up to more strenuous routines as you adjust to the ab workouts.
Also, don’t forget that ab workouts aren’t really an exercise you need to be doing seven days a week. Just three days a week is fine, every other day so that you are giving your body time to recuperate. And yes, I know there are seven days in a week, but it’s ok to take the weekend off to relax and spend time on other things.
Saying that, it’s still true that a healthy diet is a must have companion to your ab workouts, whether it’s well defined abs you want or just a flatter tummy. There’s just no point in putting all the hard work in with ab workouts only to undo it all by feeding your body unhealthy food!
So remember, that although thinking to yourself that ab workouts are what you need is definitely the way to go, you will need to take into consideration other things such as diet and your current level of fitness before you can make the most of your efforts.
