Effective Waist Exercises For a Flat Stomach

Monday, August 24th, 2009

The most common waist exercises that most people will do are the sit up and the crunch. While these 2 waist exercises can be effective up to a point, they certainly are not the most productive stomach exercises to do.

You can get a really effective workout with an exercise ball. Take it slow until you become used to balancing yourself.

Put your hands on the side of the ball as you lower yourself onto it. You then lean back a little and lift your legs up. This is where you may find it difficult to balance. Smaller stomach stabiliser muscles will get a workout in this way.

If this exercise was performed as normal on the ground, the stabilising muscles would not be targed. You then start moving your feet in a cycling motion, just like you were trying to ride a bike. To make this particular waist exercise even harder, simply remove your hands and place them behind the ears.

Next you will use an exercise ball to perform a crunch. In this exercise you will sit on the ball and place your hands on your chest. The difference to a standard crunch will be that instead of pushing your torso forward, you will take your legs up to the torso. So lean back a little and try to bring your knees as close to your chest as possible.

It would be the job of the stabiliser muscles to help you to balance properly. Perform this exercise in a slow manner, and you will definitely start to feel the burn in your abs.

The thing to keep in mind is that you need to perform waist exercises that are going to target different areas of the stomach. Doing this will ensure that your entire stomach area gets a good workout, and this will result in a far superior mid-section compared to just doing normal crunches and sit ups.

These are just a couple of great waist exercises that can really strengthen your abs. However there are lots of different waist exercises which you can use to get abs quickly.
